Uma antiga família de origem arbëresh [povo italiano de origem albanesa], de evidente e antiga virtude, que se propagou, ao longo dos séculos, em diferentes regiões da Europa e da Itália - principalmente na Calábria. Tal linhagem, pertencente à classe feudal da própria terra, desde o século XII, foi sempre fiel ao governo bizantino, tanto que, no período entre 1.380 e 1.506, caracterizado pela resistência albanesa ao ataque e à conquista pelos otomanos, muitos membros da família Migliano (Portuguese), na qualidade de cavaleiros ou alferes, se distinguiram pela virtude e pela coragem nas forças armadas.
