Questa famiglia fu originata in Valena nella Spagna nel 1200 da Goffredo Baronel del Milan dalla quale Baronia presero nome i suoi dicendenti. Fu detta pure Milà e poi Milano e fu portata in Regno, in tempo di Re Alfonso I d'Aragona, da Auxia del Milà che sposò Luisa d'Alagno, sorella di Lucrezia favorita di quel Re, dal quale ottenne 1000 once d'oro sulle entrate del Contado di Venafro. Vuole il Contarino che la famiglia M. ebbe origine da Mila di Valenza nipote di papa Callisto III, e che avendo sposato in Napoli la figluola di Nicola d'Alagno, fu scritto al Seggio di Nido ed i suoi discendenti si dissero Milà d'Alagno e poi Milagno e M. Come appartenente a Seggio di Napoli, la famiglia M. trovasi scritta al Libro d'Oro. Un ramo dei M. si stabilì a Lucera ove ottenne la graduazione delle 60 some di terraggio solite a
