Fra le famiglie nobili esterne hebbe sempre il suo luogho, la famiglia M. in Catania. Ella fiorì col cognome di Porenzone in Milano, con molta reputazione; indi per il governo c'hebbe della città d'Alessandria della paglia passando col cognome di M. à guisa delle famiglie forastieri in quella Città si fermò; ove, ed in tutti i luoghi non lasciò mai di spiegare l'anticha sue arme di Porenzone, che sono una Volpe del suo colore appoggiata ad un Albore di pino verde in campo d'argento. Il primo che di lei venne d'Alessandria della Paglia, in Sicilia, secondo un'antico manuscritto d'Oratio d'Aracangelo historico Catanese, e di molt'autorità, nel reggimento del Re Alfonzo, fù Pier Luiggi M. c'havendo servito molt'anni con la militar disciplina il medesmo Rè , col carico di Castellano di Catania, e di Iace per dieci anni nel 1452, passò in Sicilia, e portò egli seco Gio. Antonio Garofalo nobile
