Antichissima e assai nobile famiglia siciliana, conosciuta come Milazzo o Melazzo, la quale ha goduto nobiltà in Caltagirone, Messina, Palermo e Trapani, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e d'Europa. A questa illustre casata spetta il titolo di Barone di San Giorgio e il privilegio del "Don". Inoltre, nel dispiegarsi dei lustri, essa si è sempre distinta per i pregevoli personaggi a cui ha dato i natali. Un Antonio fu giurato di Caltagirone negli anni 1477-78, 1488-89, 1492-93; un Niccolò tenne la stessa carica in detta città nel 1500-1501; un Giacomo fu senatore di Palermo nel 1500-1501, 1504-5; un Giovanni fu giurato di Caltagirone nel 1508-9; un Tommaso ed un Biagio furono annotati nella mastra nobile del Mollica; un Antonio, da Adernò, alfiere della milizia di cavalli della sergenzia del terzo di S.
