Alte und sehr edle sardische Familie, der der Titel Don verliehen wurde, mit Wohnsitz in Sassari, deren erste Nachricht auf das zehnte vierte Jahrhundert zurückgeht, das sich über die Jahrhunderte in verschiedenen Regionen Italiens ausbreitete. Der Ursprung dieser Erkenntnis sollte nach Ansicht maßgeblicher Ahnenforscher in einem Spitznamen gesucht werden, der aus dem sardischen Begriff "Milia" (= Blöken) stammt, möglicherweise um auf einen Pastor im Vorfahren hinzuweisen. In jedem Fall gehörte dieses Haus der städtischen Oligarchie und konnte sich den Aragonesern nähern. 1423 hatte er die erbliche Ritterschaft mit einem Antonio, der 1428 Großzügigkeit hatte; 1439 erhielt er neue Auszeichnungen bei Giovanni. Ein Francesco Milia heiratete Maddalena Gambella und ihre Kinder strebten 1490 erfolglos nach dem Erbe der Gambella-Lehen. Unter den anderen Persönlichkeiten, die die Familie bekannter gemacht haben, erinnern wir uns: Antonino, Arzt in "utroque jure", lebte 1531 in Sassari; Alessandro, 1546 in Sassari lebender Arzt "in utroque jure"; Gio.

Inquartato: al primo di rosso con due aquile d'argento con le ali aperte che tengono negli artigli un globo d'oro sopra il quale vi è una stella, pure d'oro; al secondo di verde con una catena di ferro posta in palo tenuta con le unghie da due grifi; al terzo d'azzurro con un pero fogliato e fruttato sinistrato da un leone al naturale controrampante al tronco; al quarto d'azzurro con un braccio umano vestito, con la mano aperta e al di sopra tre carte da gioco.
