Un Bartolomeo acquistò da Mario Piraino il feudo Castagna e ne ebbe investitura a 21 agosto 1664 e, con privilegio del 20 aprile 1666 fu riconosciuto barone di Castagna; un Giuseppe, figlio di detto Bartolomeo, fu investito di Castagna a 29 gennaio 1684, morì senza figli e gli succedette il fratello Domenico, investito a 12 agosto 1688. Vincenzo Militello Paternò, di Domenico, fu barone di Castagna per investitura dell'8 luglio 1701; un Giacomo, fu giudice del tribunale della R.Udienza di Messina nel 1705; un Calogero-Mariano, figlio di Vincenzo, fu barone di Castagna per investitura del 25 febbraio 1742, tenne la carica di capitano di giustizia in Nicosia negli anni 1761-62, 1770-71, acquistò da Marianna Valguarnera il feudo Casuto e ne ebbe investitura a 6 settembre 1781; un Francesco di Nicosia, di Calogero Mariano, barone di Castagna per investitura del 23 luglio 1782, fu senatore di Nicosia nel 1805-6 e capitano
