Antiga e nobre família da Ligúria, originária de Sestri Levante mas que se mudou para Génova, de clara e ancestral virtude, que se espalhou pelo mundo, ao longo dos séculos. A clara nobreza desta Casa é confirmada por sua presença na obra heráldica fundamental "Il Dizionario storico-blasonico delle famiglie nobili e notabili italiane, estinte e fiorenti" escrita pelo escritor e heraldista italiano Giovan Battista di Crollalanza (19 de maio de 1819-8 Março de 1892) e publicado em Pisa em três volumes entre 1886 e 1890. Além disso, esta família, em todas as idades, sempre se destacou, graças às figuras proeminentes que deram origem, no serviço público, nas profissões liberais e no serviço militar .
