Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Jean et Olive sa compagne, de la paroisse de Sévignac, font un échange avec l'abbaye de Boquen en 1274; Olivier, possessionné dans la paroisse de Pommeret en 1320; Etienne, ratifie le traité de Guérande à Dinan en 1381; Thomas, fait hommage au vicomte de Rohan entre les nobles de Loudéac en 1396; Olivier, prête serment au duc entre les nobles de Montcontour en 1437; Bertrand, sénéchal de Rennes, puis président et juge universel de Bretagne en 1439; Yves, chevalier de Saint-Jean de Jérusalem, au nombre des défenseurs de Rhodes, assiégé par Mahomet II en 1480; Jeanne, Guillemette et autre Jeanne, abbesses de Saint-Sulpice de Rennes, de 1391 à 1498; Guillaume, abbé de Saint-Jacut mort en 1461; Etienne, abbé de Saint-Jacut, mort en 1498. Yvon, vivant en 1443, auteur de la branche de Kerjean, bisaïeul de Jean, marié vers 1534 à Marguerite de Pentreff. Les seigneurs de Penanster et de Villeroy, de même nom et armes, alliés aux d'Espinoze, aux Rado du Matz et aux le Chauff, ont produit un avocat au parlement en 1666 et un maire du Croizic en 1789.
