Família siciliana antiga e muito nobre, com filiais em Siracusa, Catânia e Caltagirone, que eu queria originalmente da cidade de Florença, que se espalhou ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália. A família, conhecida como Minardi, Minardo ou Mainardo, possuía os feudos de Barchino, Fontana degli Angeli, Ramione, Bideni e outros. Além disso, no desenrolar de seu brilho, sempre conseguiu produzir uma série de homens que tornaram seu nome famoso, em empregos públicos, profissões liberais e eclesiásticas e no serviço militar. Entre eles, sem aumentar o valor dos omitidos, destacam-se: Mainitto, nomeado portulanotto do porto e marina de Siracusa, em 1399; Giovanni, jurado de Caltagirone, no biênio 1408-9; Niccolò, com a mesma posição que a anterior nos anos 1447-48, 1454-55, 1467-68; Paolo, senador de Catania em 1475-76; Giovanni, barão de Barchino, que foi capitão da justiça em Caltagirone, em 1475-76, e jurado de Caltagirone nos anos 1485-86, 1490-91
