Tuvo casa solar en las villas de Busturia, Bermeo y Luno, las tres del partido judicial de Guernica, y en la Merindad de Uribe, del partido de Durango, todo en Vizcaya. Pasaron a Guipúzcoa. Gracián de M. y su mujer y deuda doña Osana de M., fueron Señores de las casas de Meceta, Albiz, Zallo y Berremondo, y fundaron el mayorazgo de Meceta, en 1518. Rodrigo de M. pasó a las Indias en 1625 y poseyó el mayorazgo anteriormente citado. A la casa de la villa de Luno, perteneció Antonio de M., natural de Luno, que contrajo matrimonio con doña María de Areibar, natural de Bermeo, y fueron padres de Juan de M. y Areibar, natural de Bermeo, que casó con doña María de Busturia, natural de la anteiglesia de Axpe de Busturia, en el mismo partido de Guernica (hija de Juan de Busturia, natural de Axpe de Busturia, y de doña Juana de Ibargüen, natural de Guernica). De esa unión nació Juan Antonio de M. y Busturia, natural de Axpe de Busturia y Caballero de la Orden de Calatrava, en la que ingresó el 2 de Marzo de 1666. Otra casa muy antigua. Parece ser que es el mismo apellido de Meceta y que radicó, como éste, en la antigua Merindad de Busturia, en Vizcaya. Son sus armas: De sinople, con un león de su color agachado, al que pica en la cabeza un águila volante, de sable. Carlos de Guerra dicve que el campo de este escudo es de gules.
