Ancienne et très noble famille espagnole, de vertu claire et ancestrale, arrivée, avant le Xe Ve siècle, dans le royaume de Sicile, où elle s'est installée et s'est épanouie noblement, parfois sous le nom de Cino. Les premiers personnages que nous connaissons sont un Pier Giovanni, florissant à Mazara, et un Giovan Luca, florissant à Lentini, à l'époque du roi Ferdinand le Juste. Le fils dudit Pier Giovanni, Pier Giorgio, a prêté serment précisément à Mazara en 1441; de même Michele, en l'an 1491. A Lentini on se souvient comme des gentilshommes : Pietro, Giacomo, Alfio, tous propriétaires terriens. Beaucoup d'autres se sont plutôt consacrés aux professions libérales : Giulio, Antonio et Michele étaient de savants docteurs dans les deux lois.
