Noch vor der Aussperrung des Maggior Consiglio gehörte die Familie zur Klasse der venezianischen Patrizier. Marco, der Sohn von Pietro, war 1300 General von 37 Galeeren gegen die Griechen, eroberte die Insel Stalimene, wurde dann gegen den andronischen Kaiser von Konstantinopel geschickt und beschädigte sie schwer. 1328 war er einer der Kurfürsten von Doge Francesco Dandolo. Pasqualino teilte 1364 die Arbeit und den Ruhm von Luchino Dal Verme, die Insel Candia unterworfen zu haben, die gegen die Venezianer rebellierte. Girolamo, di Pietro, war 1448 Hauptmann von Vicenza, dann 1453 Balio in Konstantinopel in der Nähe des griechischen Kaisers und wurde bei der Einnahme dieser Stadt durch die Türken zusammen mit seinem Sohn barbarisch geschlachtet. Giovanni Luigi unterstützte das Fort von Retino mit heldenhaftem Wert für einige Monate, ohne Munition, Nahrung und Männer. Am Ende musste er im Jahr 1646 kapitulieren. Nach dem Einsatz starb er im Alter von 46 Jahren
