Esta família, de origem bolonhesa, destacou-se especialmente nas artes plásticas. Conta o famoso Marcello, mestre de capelas em Carpi no início do século XVII; ele é conhecido por uma coleção de composições intituladas: Salmos, sinfonias e litanias com três, quatro e cinco vozes. Quase simultaneamente com o músico Marcello, Bernardo nasceu em 1699 em Bolonha; aprendeu os primeiros elementos da pintura com o designer de arquitetura e gravura de Cavazzoni Angelo; depois auxiliado por Ferraioli Nunzio, um famoso pintor de paisagens que viveu quase sempre em Bolonha, ele conseguiu um fresco habilidoso. Pouco a pouco, Bernardo criou seu próprio caminho; ele também se tornou um aquarelista da paisagem, com feliz sucesso, porque seus trabalhos eram procurados em todos os países; e ele gravou em gravura, como pode ser visto no livro impresso em Bolonha em 1760.
