Très illustre maison de la Bretagne, d'une haute antiquité, dont les premiers auteurs connus sont: Honoré et Olive Visdelou, sa compagne, vivants en 1330, père et mère de: Guillaume, sénéchal de Chatelaudren en 1383, auteur de la branche des Granges; Charles, auteur des branches de la Villesion et de la Motte-Basse. Cette famille a encore produit: Guillaume, commissaire pour la réformation des fouages en 1441; Pierre, qui obtint lettres d'abolition en 1485 pour sa participation à la mort du trésorier Landais; un chevalier de Saint-Michel en 1637; des pages du Roi et des filles à Saint-Cyr, de 1718 à 1787; un lieutenant des maréchaux de France en 1771; un abbé de Boquen en 1757; un abbé de Meilleray en 1776, évêque de Tréguier en 1780, mort en 1801; un écuyer cavalcadour du prince de Condé dans les guerres de l'émigration; un chef de division des armées royales en Bretagne et deux maréchaux de camp nommés par le Roi en 1797 et 1814. La seigneurie des Granges appartenait en 1737 aux Geslin de Trémargat, et depuis aux Gouzillon de Belizal.
