Illustre famiglia, originaria di Napoli, donde si trasferì a Firenze ai primi del secolo XIII, essendo compresa nel 1210 fra quelle del sesto d'Oltrarmo e di S.Pietro Scheraggio. Mangia dei Minutoli fece parte del Consiglio Generale del Comune nel 1278, e Lupo rivestì l'ufficio di Gonfaloniere di giustizia nel 1296 e fu priore nel 1299. Come aderenti alla fazione bianca, i Minutoli furono multati e poi banditi all'avvento della parte nera, con sentenze di conte de' Gabrielli da Gubbio e di Gherardino di Gambara del 18 genn. 1302. Trovarono breve rifugio in Lucca, perchè nel 1314, cioè all'inizio della signoria di Castruccio Castracane di nuovo furono banditi come guelfi, ritornando dopo il 1325 nella città, intorno alla metà del secolo XIV: Bartolo, di Rimbaldo, Arcibaldo, di Bartolo, di Rimbaldo e Nicolao, di Bartolo dei Minutoli con la designazione "de Florentia qui munc morantur Luce". Furono presenti al giuramento prestato all'imper.
