Nobile famiglia faentina, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia ed un cui ramo, stabilitosi in Bertinoro, fu conosciuto come "quello da Faenza". L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di illustri genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata nel termine dialettale "Mi Sior" (= Mio Signore), con il quale, anticamente, ci si rivolgeva ai notabili come notai o amministratori della comunità, indicando così che probabilmente i capostipiti fossero comunque stati personaggi di rilievo nell'ambito della loro comunità. Tal casato, d'altronde, in ogni epoca, sempre riuscì a distinguersi, grazie agli elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Tra questi, ricordiamo: Rodolfo, Vescovo faentino, Monaco Camaldolese, Priore del Monastero di S. Giovanni Battista, scomparso nel 1489; Martino, dottore in "utroque jure", vivente in Faenza, nel 1545; Leonardo, notaio, vivente in Faenza, nel 1578; Tommaso, pittore faentino, detto "il Villano", vivente dal 1636 al 1699; P. Rodolfo, dell'Ordine dei Predicatori,
