Ancienne et noble famille ombrienne, originaire d'Urbino mais ensuite passée à Foligno et Spello, de vertu claire et ancestrale, répartie au cours des siècles dans diverses régions d'Italie, avec des colonies plus visibles dans le Latium et, plus précisément, à Castel San Pietro et, au début des années 1900, à Cesano. C'est à Cesano que la famille Mocci s'est liée aux notables Fracassa, plusieurs fois Prieurs de Cesano, en raison du mariage de Vincenzo Mocci avec Petronilla Fracassa. Selon certaines reconstructions héraldiques, la famille pourrait avoir des origines catalanes et, par conséquent, pourrait être de la même agnation que les Mocci qui ont prospéré en Sardaigne. En tout cas, une branche de cette famille a également prospéré à Pesaro, où elle était parfois transcrite en Mochi, et au Conseil Noble duquel elle appartenait, à partir de la personne d'un Rinaldo, médecin de Francesco-Maria II della Rovere, seigneur de Pesaro .
