Famiglia originaria di Cravegna (Novara). Il pirmo personaggio di cui si abbia certa notizia è Novarino De Nocetti che stabilitosi in Bologna nella seconda metà del 1400, vi esercitò da prima la mercatura, ma poi, caduto in gravi strettezze, si mise a fare il facchino, e, perchè esile della persona, fu soprannominato il facchinetto donde deriva l'attuale cognome. Di poi arricchitosi, potè mantenere agli studi i suoi due figliuoli Pietro e Antonio; quest'ultimo fu il padre di Giannantonio, nato il 15 luglio 1514, creato Cardinale il 29 ottobre 1583 col titolo dei SS. Quattro e il 28 ottobre 1591 Sommo Pontefice, assumendo il nome di Innocenzo IX (vedi vol. 1, pag. 127). I figli della di lui sorella Antonia, moglie di Antonio Titta, adottati dallo zio Papa, si chiamarono anch'essi Facchinetti e restarono a Bologna ove ebbero onori e furono aggregati al Senato Bolognese. Fra i più illustri meritano particolare
