Família antiga e nobre originária de Bra, no Piemonte. Giovanni-Andrea Moffa, doutor em leis e advogado eminente, depois de ser vice-auditor de guerra e conservador das gabelas reais, em 29 de agosto de 1749, foi atribuído à ordem dos vassalos por ter comprado metade da décima sexta parte da disputa de Lysius, no qual, em 1772, ele obteve o título em comum do rei. O último ramo original dessa família nobre foi William, que morreu em Turim em 1877. O brasão da nobre família Moffa é descrito da seguinte forma: Dourado, na cruz de S. Andrea ancorada em azul. Cimiero: Um leão de ouro em ascensão. Lema da família: Despeje o Avenir.
