La familia tomó el apellido Molinari a fines del siglo XVIII cuando el marqués Antonio Molinari, hijo del marqués Bartolomeo, con un testamento implícito publicado con un instrumento de 10 tipos, estableció a Luigi, hijo de Giovani Francesco, como heredero universal. 1794. Dicho marqués Bartolomeo, padre de Antonio, era el hermano de Marta, antepasado paternal de dicho Luigi, y había obtenido el título de marqués con un diploma de la imper.
