Famiglia trentina un ramo della quale è mantovano da ormai un secolo. Trae però origine dal Belgio; Moll infatti è paese di questa Nazione e precisamente sul confine olandese. L'omonimia con altre famiglie e la grafia tedesca, rende quasi impossibile una sicura genealogia; comunque il cognome Moll è storicamente provato fin dal 1231. E' solo sul principio del secolo XVI che si fa chiara luce sulla famiglia e precisamente con un Jean de Moll per vari anni podestà di Bruxelles e due Moll si trovano rispettivamente al seguito di due conti Salm che con diverse qualità parteciparono al Concilio di Trento (1545). Sappiamo con certezza che un Guglielmo ottenne ampliamento dello stemma ed ebbe confermata l'avita nobiltà il 23 aprile 1555. Giorgio Guglielmo (1635-1700) fu poi plenipotenziaro al Congresso di Ryswick (1697) e finalmente Goffredo già ministro del Principato di Salisburgo fu creato Barone da Giuseppe II con diploma 4
