Di origine veronese, cangiò domicilio e cognome in "Ravagnini" nel 1306, allorquando Montanaro, figlio di Ravagnino, passò a stabilirsi in Treviso in qualità di agente generale degli Scaligeri. Un figliuolo di Montanaro fu uno degli oratori che a nome dei Trevigiani giurò omaggio alla Repubblica di Venezia quando nel 1344 le si fecero tributarj. I fratelli Giulio ed Antonio nel 1667 furono aggregati al patriziato veneto. Di questa famiglia non si hanno notizie dal 1708, ultimo nella persona di Giulio di Giovanni Ravagnnini priore dell'Ordine militare di S. Stefano di Toscana, il quale aveva fondato una prioria in patria. Altra famiglia. Un Giovanni di Bellinzona fu gran cancelliere di Francesco II Sforza, Duca di Milano, suo prossimo parente, nel 1540. Bernardo suo figlio, fu segretario del senato di Milano sotto l'Imperatore Carlo II e morì nel 1556; e questi fu padre di Alessandro Vescovo di Minore.
