Antiga e mui nobre família piemontesa, de clara e ancestral virtude, que se propagou ao longo dos séculos em várias regiões da Itália e do mundo. Conhecido como Mombelli ou Mombello e, mais antigamente como Montbel ou Mombel, divide-se em dois ramos principais. O ramo Moncalieri é muito nobre. Tem origem nobre de Francesco que obteve a concessão de nobreza e armas em 16 de novembro de 1453. Vittorio Amedeo II Rei da Sardenha, com cartas de patente datadas de 11 de janeiro de 1723, investiu Giuseppe-Antonio, prefeito e senador em sua pátria, com o feudo de Olivastro no vale de Oneglia com título de conde; o Ministro do Interior do reino da Itália, por decreto de 1874 declarou o título de conde de Olivastro para concorrer com Federico Maria Bernardo Agostino, transmissível em descendência masculina por linha reta masculina continuada com ordem de primogenitura.
