E' il ramo primogenito della seconda branca della famiglia Monacelli, di cui abbiamo trattato sopra, e perciò per i cenni storici vedere a detta famiglia. Il nob. Ferdinando Monacelli, nel 1850 sposò la contessa Maddalena. Nel 1915 il conte Domenico Lattanzio Lattanzi con suo testamento istituì suo erede universale, con l'obbligo di aggiungere il cognome e l'arma di casa Lattanzi, il nipote, ex sorore, Nob. Ing. Giuseppe, figlio di detto Ferdinando. Questi con Decreto Ministeriale 28 dicembre 1916, ottenne di aggiungere al proprio il cognome Lattanzi, e con altro Decreto Reale del 16 febbraio 1928 e RR. LL. PP. 10 agosto 1928, ottenne per sè e discendenti in linea primogenita di inquartarne lo stemma, e la rinnovazione del titolo di conte già dei Lattanzi. La famiglia Lattanzi è di antichissima nobiltà e oriunda di Fiesole (Toscana). Si disse dapprima dei Lupicini da un Lupicino capostipite e vivente nel secolo XI.
