Originaria de Bérgamo, esta familia aparece en Spilimbergo en Friuli en la segunda mitad del siglo XVI en una condición popular y probablemente mercantil. Entre los hermanos Mónaco, Gio. Pietro, Francesco y Gio. Batta qm. William, qm. Gio. Pietro, que en los registros parroquiales de Spilimbergo se llaman Bérgamo, dio a tantas ramas. El primero murió a fines del siglo XVII, el segundo dijo de Vidulis, terminó con la condesa Giovanna (dec. Udine 1926), esposa del noble Ettore Corradini que tomó el apellido Corradini Monaco; el tercero tiene como único representante al conde Pio Fortunato nacido en 1848 y célibe. La familia, por lo tanto, está desapareciendo. Cesare Monaco, hijo del apellido Gio. Pietro, se mudó a Udine, donde en 1634 el 20 de julio fue recibido en la popular ciudad (Acta XLII 253, Bibl. Com.
