Noblesse chevaleresque du Velay. Garin était l'un des censitaires de la collégiale du Puy en 1190. Pons vivait en 1250. Guigon son fils, était décédé le 27 mars 1270. On trouve en 1280, Reymond et Grégoire qui assignent le 13 septembre 1283 Dalmas Chandorat; Pierre, chevalier, qui rend hommage le 12 mars 1308, à l'évêque du Puy, du village de Mandigoul et autres appartenances dans le mandement de Beaujeu. Noble Guillaume chevalier, fils de feu Pons, rendit hommage en 1314, 1319 et 1328 à l'Evêque du Puy. Pierre de Monastier damoiseau, seigneur de Mandigoul (1344). Guilhote est dite veuve de Jean Gazelles en 1383 et Guillaumète fille et héritière de Reymond du Monastier en 1389. Noble et puissante dame Marguerite, dame de St-Vidal et de Goudet, testa le 29 mars 142, étant alors veuve de Guillaume de la Tour, baron de St-Vidal, chevalier. Catherine, se soeur, était abbesse de Bellecombe (1513-1519).
