Si ha notizia di un Oglerio di Montecapraro che nel 1132 è teste in un atto del 26 marzo con cui i consoli di Tortona investono Oberto Scopelli e Anselmo Bussinello di un manso alla Frascheta. Nel 1190 i M. furono investiti del borgo e castello si Serravalle previo giuramento di fedeltà al comune di Tortona. E' intuibile che i M. desiderosi di rendersi signori assoluti del luogo, allettati forse da soccorsi ed alleanze liguri, infrangessero i vincoli di vassallaggio e nella primavera del 1199 tentassero col tradimento e col veleno di sopprimere il guardiano della torre e sottrarre così borgo e castello alla potestà tortonese. Il tentativo fallì per il pronto intervento dei tortonesi che sedarono la ribellione incarcerando il consortile al completo. Opizzo di Sigebaldo, Nicola e suo figlio Giacomo, Norando del fu Litolfo, Candelario ed i suoi figli Ugo e Arlotto, tutti M., furono condannati a morte;
