A família é originária de Reggio Emilia, ilustrada pelo prestigioso general Emilio que, nomeado oficial de ordenança efetivo da HRH pelo duque Emanuele Filiberto di Savoia-Aosta em março de 1894 e, portanto, após o período de quatro anos, oficial honorário de ordenança, acabou de ser lembrado promovido a major em 1907, e nomeado assistente de campo eficaz, com a tarefa de educar dois jovens príncipes, os duques de Puglia e Spoleto.
