Traggono origine e nome da un paesello delle montagne, che sovrastano alla Riviera orientale Ligure sopra Recco. Alfonso e Cosmo furono consiglieri del Comune di Genova. Ovino e il predetto Cosmo nel 1262 anziani. Nel 1488 Enrico intervenne al giuramento di fedeltà a Gio. Galeazzo Duca di Milano. Nel 1506 è notato fra i Consiglieri nigri Giacomo. Nel 1581 e nel 1589 Francesco di Bartolomeo era degli ill.mi Governatori e come tale recitò l'orazione per la erezione del Doge Battista Negrone il 21 nov. 1589. Lo stesso Francesco notaro ascritto nel 1528 alla nobiltà nell'albergo Cibo e che compare in atto di acquisto di una casa in Campetto del 23 nov. 1595, fu padre di Antonio Maria. Di Giuseppe Francesco appaiono figli in un atto di divisione dell'11 maggio 1595 notaio Squarciafico. Il nome fu onorevolmente portato da personaggi di altri rami; fra questi è doveroso ricordare il sacerdote Francesco,
