Antigua y muy noble familia de Apulia, de clara y ancestral virtud, que se ha extendido a lo largo de los siglos en diversas regiones de Italia. De origen normando, se le conocía como Montefuscolo o Montefusco; del nombre del feudo que poseía en 1100. Cabe señalar aquí que la forma original del apellido no siempre permaneció intacta a lo largo de los siglos con su ortografía primitiva.
