Decorata nel 1736 del titolo di marchese sul cognome e riconosciuta nel legittimo possesso di detto titolo con R.Rescritto 28 luglio 1826. Illustratasi nel regno di Napoli con alti gradi militari ed investita del titolo di barone. Con R.Rescritto 25 ott. 1834 ebbe nuovo riconoscimento del titolo di marchese. La famiglia di Napoli derivano dai Fernandez de Cordova, una delle prime famiglie elevate al grandato da Carlo V nel 1520. Questo ramo risale a Martin Alfonso de Cordova, signore di Montemayor, morto nel 1349, la cui discendenza modificò il cognome in Cordova y Montemayor o Fernandez de Montemayor e in ultimo semplicemente in de Montemayor e aggiunse allo stemma dei Cordova, che è di loro oro a tre fasce di rosso, la banda di argento ingolata da due teste di drago di verde linguate di rosso, insegna dell'Ordine della Banda, che ebbe breve vita nel sec.
