Con patenti, in data 13 agosto 1839, S.M. il re Carlo Alberto di Sardegna, approvò la convenzione stipulata in Torino il 10 dello stesso mese di agosto, avanti il Sacro Supremo Reale Consiglio, tra il Regio Fisco Generale e Don Pietro, tenete colonnello, maggiore di Piazza della città di Sassari, del fu Don Giovanni Battista, nativo ed abitante a Sassari, possessore del feudo di Montemuros, composto del villaggio di Muros, per il riscatto del detto feudo. Nella convenzione approvata da S.M. fu riservato allo stesso Don Pietro ed ai suoi successori il titolo di marchese di Montemuros, di cui si sarebbero fregiati, sì e come per l'addietro ne godevano i loro autori. I membri di questa nobile famiglia intervenivano in tale qualità alle corti Generali di Sardegna.
