Antica famiglia riunda di Novara con memorie dal secolo XIII, la quale si trasferì a Vercelli, dove prese dimore. Molti di questa famiglia furono notai, e iscritti nel collegio dei nobili notai Vercelli. Giovanni Antonio (n. Vercelli, 6 sett. 1542, dec. 1580) di Melchione, per il suo matrimonio con Margherita Roberti, popolano, precluse al figlio suo Giuseppe Melchione (n. Vercelli, 22 giugno 1572) l'ingresso nel collegio dei notai, e solo vi fu ammesso il 12 nov. 1608 in esecuzione di sentenza senatoria del 1° ottobre 1608. Il 31 gennaio 1607 aveva ottenuto il riconoscimento di nobiltà ed arma. Giuseppe Melchione procreò Giovanni Antonio (dec. 1656), che fu notaio collegiato e acquistò dal capitano Andrea il feudo di Casalrosso il 22 dic. 1654, del quale fu investito il 20 dic. 1655. Fu suo fratello Carlo Francesco, che fu medico collegiato a Vercelli. Il figlio primogenito di costui, Giuseppe, fu investito
