Famiglia assai antica e nobile, originaria di Narni e feudataria del castello di Montorio o Montoro, dal quale trasse il proprio nome. Era fregiata del titolo marchionale, e fra i molti uomini illustri che sono usciti dal di lei seno, lasciò specialmente assai chiaro nome Monsignor Pietro-Francesco creato Vescovo di Nicastro da Clemente VIII il 3 Febbraio 1594, poi vice-legato di Avignone nel 1604, e nunzio apostolico in Germania sotto Gregorio XV. Da Verona una famiglia molto antica. I due primi di questa casa che trovinsi nominati, sono il Giudice Montanaro nel 1216, e Bettino nel 1272. Fra i testimonj sottoscritti all'atto dell'elezione d'Alberto Della Scala a Capitano Generale del popolo veronese nell'anno 1277 si legge uno di questa famiglia. Antonio, Buono, Gerardino ed il Giudice Nero nel 1279 sancirono la pace tra' Mantovani, Bresciani e Veronesi. Nel 1280 Buono e Bonaccorso furono Giudici di Verona. L'anno 1404 Olivetto fu
