The family is from Castelnuovo nei Monti, in the Province of Reggio Emilia. The cav. Cirillo Monzani, of Mariano Antonio, was a member of parliament and secretary of Minister Ricasoli. He was also a writer and correspondent of the Italian Historical Archive, where important writings were published, including a speech and annotation on the life of Antonio-Giacomo and the Capuchin Apology, written by Jacopo Pitti, in 1853, in Florence; and a speech on the life of Francesco Ferrucci, written by Filippo Sassetti, and annotations in letters by Ferrucci. The family was in possession of important documents and letters from statesmen, including Francesco Crispi, transferred to the government. It was invested with the title of Count by concession 1889 to Luigi, of Mariano Antonio and to his only still living daughter, Countess Maria, divorced from Count Onorato, Carlo Sahuguet-d'Amarzit of Spain of Paris, later widower Zoppollari, and now married to mr.
