Antichissimo casato che, con un Gandolfo nobile Milanese, nel tempo dei Guelfi e dei Ghibellini, passò in Sicilia. Egli, infatti, si casò in Messina con Pina d'Ansinoli, figlia d'Ansaldo, Barone Messinese, con la quale procreò Ansaldo, che successe ne' beni dell'avo materno; questi prese per moglie Felice Sagl'inpepe. Si casò il Nicolò Morello, figlio di Ansaldo, con Leonora di Mistretta nobile Cefalutana, con la quale procreò Pietro, Gio. Ansaldo, Francesco e Luigi. Da Pietro nacquero: Gio. Filippo, Giuseppe e Luigi; da Gio. Ansaldo: Nicolò, Carlo e Girolamo. Però l'altro fratello Francesco si fece Prete e divenne Canonico di Monreale, ove si stabilirono due suoi nipoti, Luigi e Carlo, ove procrearono Gio: Antonio, Gio. Francesco e Luigi, che furono paggi d'Antonello Sanseverino, Principe di Salerno, col favore del quale Luigi fu Castellano di Cosenza, per il quale carico prese per moglie una nobile Cosentina, e fondò la sua famiglia Morello.
