Originaria di Provenza venuta nel regno di Napoli con Carlo I d'Angiò. Ricordiamo Pietro de Mores, milite e regio familiare, fu investito il 20 aprile 1277 dell'ufficio di regio giustiziere; Giovanni e Tommaso, scudieri di detto re nel 1279; Matteo, giudice di Salerno nel 1290; Nicola, giudice ed assessore della città di Capua, nel 1327, presso il giustiziere di Sicilia, nel 1334; Alessandro, maestro razionale della Magna Curia nel 1330; Guglielmo, signore di Montella, insieme ad Alvino Carbone nel 1302. Questa famiglia si stabilì in Montecorvino verso la seconda metà del 400 con un Salimbene e fu iscritta al ruolo delle 23 famiglie che costituivano sin dal secolo XV la nobiltà di detta terra. Giovan Battista, figlio di Salimbene, ebbe numerosa prole fra cui Nicolantonio, regio capitano in Guardiagrele e Gaspare, insigne giureconsulto, che per espresso mandato dell'università intraprese in tarda età un viaggio per la Spagna insieme al dott.
