Familia antigua y muy noble originaria de las Marcas, de clara y ancestral virtud, difundida a lo largo de los siglos en diversas regiones de Italia y Europa. Las primeras huellas dejadas por esta noble familia se encuentran en Ancona y Urbino. En un acta de 1571 leemos: "Instrucción de la herencia e inventario de los bienes de Vincenzo de Francischino Moresi de Ancona"; mientras que un Fulvio Moresio, de Urbino, se matriculó en la Universidad de Perugia en 1572. En los albores del siglo XVII, una rama de los Moresi se trasladó a Florencia y allí, en 1638, Camillo Moresi, hijo de Fulvio Moresi, obtuvo la florentina ciudadanía De hecho, la clara nobleza de esta familia está atestiguada por su presencia en la valiosísima Colección Ceramelli Papiani ", establecida durante muchos años por Enrico Ceramelli Papiani (1896-1976), que es una colección conservada en los Archivos Estatales de Florencia y
