Famiglia di remote origini, oriunda di Valenza Po, e venuta poi in Cuneo dove fu accolta fra i nobili. Si dissero nei tempi antichi dei Dini. Guglielmo, di Giacomo e di Beatrice Gromis, era cittadino vercellese, e questo comune il 22 settembre 1474 gli conferiva il privilegio di inquartare la sua all'arma propria, la quale gli venne riconosciuta con PP. del 28 settembre 1473. Giuseppe Ignazio di Ignazio, fu infeudato di Castelmagno il 17 febbraio 1722 e investito il 7 marzo successivo. Sposò costui Francesca Mocchia di Campiglia (1704), e da questo matrimonio nacque Carlo Francesco Felice (n. 1707, dec. 21 febbraio 1791), che fu referendario nel Consiglio dei Memoriali (1737), intendente generale delle Fabbriche e Fortificazioni (1750), controllore generale (1771), presidente del Consiglio delle Finanze (1775) e ministro di Stato, capo dei Consigli Economici (1778). Fu suo figlio Renato Ignazio (n. torino, 13 ottobre 1741) dal quale nacque Carlo
