Antica famiglia feudataria, insignita del titolo di marchese di Castelvetere il 24 agosto 1693 da Re Carlo II di Spagna, in persona di Nicola; titolo riconosciuto il 28 ottobre 1834 e 12 gennaio 1860 dal governo del regno delle Due Sicilie. Con R. rescritto 10 aprile 1858, questa famiglia fu dichiarata "di nobiltà tale da poter essere dichiarata idonea a fondare un maggiorato". Tal casato, inoltre, in ogni epoca, sempre si distinse per gli elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Tra questi, ricordiamo: cav. Antonio, che partecipò alla difesa del Regno delle Due Sicilie, minacciato da Ludovico di Baviera; Saverio, giureconsulto ed ambasciatore di Carife, presso la Santa Sede, nel 1583; Rodrigo, notaio e poeta per diletto, vivente in Avellino, nel 1606; Giuseppe, dottore in Sacra Teologia, vivente in Carife, nel 1621; Ferdinando, dottore in "utroque jure", vivente in Avellino, nel 1635; Placido, capitano in Città della Pieve, vivente
