Antica famiglia della valle Seriana nel territorio Bergamasco dove era primitivamente detta Fogaroli e come tale nota dal XIV secolo. Era aggregata al nobile Consiglio di Bergamo e mantenne sempre tale nobiltà, la quale fu confermata con S.R.A. 4 agosto 1820. L'imperatore Rodolfo II con diploma II aprile 1578 concesse a questa fam. la nobiltà Ungherese. Con diploma imperiale 27 agosto 1900 questo ramo ebbe il titolo di conte dell'I.A., che non fu peranco confermato nel regno. Altre linee estinte ebbero il titolo di conte di Cavalcaselle (2 marzo 1750) e di Sandrà (20 nov. 1784) con la giurisdizione civile e criminale di prima istanza, e con tale titolo Giacomo Fogaroli venne iscritto nell'A.L.T. La presenza del motto nella bibliografia documentata della famiglia ci conferma l'avita nobiltà raggiunta della casata. Infatti l'origine del motto risale a circa il XIV secolo e deve essere ricercata in quei detti arguti che venivano

Cimiero: L'aquila di nero bicipite, linguata di rosso coronata d'oro su ambo le teste. Sostegni: Due grifoni d'oro, linguati di rosso, ritti, affrontati e rimiranti all'infuori.
