Questa famiglia è originaria del Trentino come consta dall'antica matricola dei cittadini di Trento, incominciata nell'anno 1572 e continuata fino al 1800. Un ramo fioriva a Vezzano, grosso paese del Trentino e nell'anno 1500 si trova traccia di un Nicolò de Godetti. Altro Nicolò, n. a Vessano il 22 luglio 1624, con diploma 30 dic. 1656 ottenne la cittadinanza ed il patriziato di Trento. L'imperatore Leopoldo I nel 19 dic. 1691 lo creò nobile del S.R.I. per le sue benemerenze verso l'imperatrice Eleonara, madre dell'imperatore, e gli concedeva il predicato di Sturmck, nobiltà e predicato che nel 3 agosto 1695 gli vennero riconosciuti dal vescovo principe di Trento, il quale confermava anche allo stesso Nicolò la nobiltà trentina. Dal Nicolò nacque Giovanni che si trasferì a Vermiglio (Valle di Non) ed ebbe per figlio Giuseppe, natagli il 19 marzo 1711. Questi nel 1729 si arruolava nelle milizie venete,
