Nobile famiglia di Nicosia. Un Giacomo, acquistò il feudo di San Silvestro, ne ottenne investitura a 18 agosto 1777 e fu giurato di Nicosia nel 1798-99; Gaetano, figlio del precedente ebbe investitura di San Silvestro a I agosto 1809. Con D.M. del 27 agosto 1879, il titolo di barone di San Silvestro venne riconosciuto in persona di Giorgio di Salvatore. Gaetano, di Giorgio, come marito di Maria Viola Speciale, è barone di Salinella, titolo che fu riconosciuto alla detta signora con D.M. del 4 settembre 1883. Giuseppe senatore nel 1786. Francesco vicario apostolico di quella diocesi. Altra famiglia deriva dallo stesso ceppo dal quale provengono i Visconti Modrone ed ha comune con questi tutta la prima parte della genealogia, dal capostipite Uberto, fino a Gio.
