Questa illustre famiglia, ebbe a capo stipite un Bernardo, signore del castello di Luco nell'Umbria, dal quale discese un Sinibaldo console di Roma, e conte di Luco nel 1586. Divisa in vari rami, si propagò nel reame di Napoli, dove un Gionata Muco ebbe in custodia, dall'Imperatore Federico II, Gerardo di Piacenza, preso in ostaggio nella guerra di Lombardia. Ha goduto nobiltà in Napoli fuori seggio nel 1475, in Chieti, in Lecce in Barletta, in Molfetta, in Capua, in Amantea ed in Aquila; e oltre il castello di Luco ebbe la signoria di molti altri feudi e dei marchesati di Lizzano e di Melpignano. Vanta parecchi regi famigliari: un Giustiziere, tre capitani e un Arcivescovo di Nazaret. Di questa famiglia sorgono monumenti in Napoli nella Chiesa di S. Anello; in Malfetta nelle Chiese di S. Domenico, di S. Berardino da Siena e dei Gesuiti ove possiede una Cappella gentilizia; in
