Anticamente questa famiglia denominavasi a Curte dicti Mugarii ed aggiunse il cognome Brà alla fine del 1700 per eredità. Nel 1410 fu aggregata al nobile Consiglio di Verona. Ferdinando Carlo Gonzaga Duca di Mantova con diploma 22 settembre 1695 creava conti Giovanni Francesco, Giovanni Battista e Giacomo coi loro discendenti in ordine di primogenitura, titolo che nel 3 ottobre 1768 venne riconosciuto dalla Repubblica Veneta esteso a tutti i maschi. Alessandro e Giovanni Battista di Francesco, furono confermati nei titoli di nobile e di conte con i S.R.A. 4 settembre 1818 e 5 agosto 1821. Gli stessi titoli vennero riconosciuti con D. M. 8 giugno 1896.
