La famiglia è oriunda da Strambino, e le cui prime notizie rimontano ad Antonio, che morì nel 1536, venne aggregata in persona di Marchetto Marchetti (n. 21 gennaio 1512, dec. lvrea, 22 agosto 1584) al contado di san Martino ed al consortile di Settimo Vittone nel 1575. Aveva costui, che si intitolava dei signori di Castelnuovo e Baio, acquistando parte di Tavagnasco e Nomaglio nel 1522 dai S. Martino. Ebbe la carica di procuratore fiscale generale e il 28 maggio 1573 fu nominato patrimoniale generale della camera dei conti, con facoltà (25 marzo 1581) di lasciare la carica al figlio Giambattista. Costui nacque a Muriago nell'anno 1525 e morì in Torino il 5 ottobre 1593, fu notaio apostolico, patrimoniale generale in surrogazione del padre (1573), consigliere e mastro uditore camerale (1586).
