Antichissimo casato, detto Muselli o Musella, originario di Torri del Benaco, passato in Verona, ove fu, dapprima, della contrada di S. Maria Antica e, successivamente, si stabilì nell'attuale Corso Cavour tra i palazzi dei Canossa e dei Portalupi. La famiglia, le cui prime vestigia, rimontano al XIII secolo, ovvero quando, al dir del Dalla Corte, un D. Irecho di M., giudice, era posto in un lungo elenco di cittadini veronesi, divenne importante e facoltosa nel corso del XVII secolo, con Francesco e Cristoforo, ricordati come i più potenti mercanti della città, con 100 ducati di capitale annuo. Tra il XVII ed il XVIII secolo, la famiglia acquistò numerosi poderi, specialmente nei territori di S. Martino, Montorio, Campalto, Marcellise, Centegnano, Fumane, Villafranca e Quinzano, divenendo una delle famiglie più influenti e ricche della città.
