Família muito antiga e ilustre, cuja primeira informação certa remonta ao século XIII. De fato, em 1250, os três irmãos Giovanni, Broccardo e Gentile de 'Muzi que, Guelphs, se opunham a Percivalle Doria, tenente do rei gibelino Manfredi que cercava Camerino, são lembrados das antigas memórias do Arquivo de Camerino. Um ramo desta família possuía o senhorio de Prefoglio, Massa e Capriglia, com um título em comum, mas esse ramo morreu com o conde Gianfrancesco, nascido em 24 de março de 1663. Lilii, em sua "Storia di Camerino", livro V, depois Tendo lembrado que, em outubro de 1414, Sigismondo Imperatore criou o Palatines Paolucci de Camerino, com a faculdade de criar Notari, bastardos legitimadores, acrescenta que essa honra também pertencia aos condes de Prefoglio. O ramo, que ainda existe hoje, descende de: Giovanni Battista, de Cesare, nascido em 23 de outubro de 1580, tio de Gianfrancesco. A família está registrada
