Antichissima famiglia normanna, di chiara e nobile virtù, trapiantata in Sicilia con un Roberto, o Ruperto, de Aceto, conte di Aucense e marito di Matilde, figlia del conte Ruggiero. Con privilegio datato 1093, fu confermato il detto titolo, sempre in persona del cennato Roberto, che il conte Ruggiero chiama suo genero. Roberto fu padre di Guarino, gran cancelliere del regno di Sicilia e gran camerlengo, da cui venne Guidalotto, padre di Torre ed avo di Recco. Guglielmo, figlio di Recco, ebbe nel 1312 la cittadinanza palermitana e nell'anno 1332 occupò l'eccelsa carica di Pretore di Palermo e fu padre di Giacomo, gran giustiziere e maestro giustiziere del Val Demone. Pietro, figlio di quest'ultimo, ebbe, nell'anno 1358, per concessione del re Ludovico e della regina Giovanna, l'annua rendita di once 100 d'oro, con l'obbligo di un paio di guanti per servizio militare.
