Very ancient and noble Anconetana family that recognizes as a progenitor a Zanni or Giovanni who has been among the nobles of Ancona since 1217. He had a Filippo (1260) who was mayor of Trau in Dalmatia. These in turn had two sayings: Bortolo (1293) who followed the family to Ancona; and Simon a doctor of law who, being like the mayor father of Trau, fixed his descent here. The family always had a seat on the noble council of Ancona where its members held the highest civic positions, including those of Governor and Gonfaloniere.
